That tree is surprisingly much larger and sturdier than I thought it would be

Yeah, it is a pretty big tree. I think in photographs it comes across as looking sort of twiggy and lean. But in person, it's impressive.

A few weeks back, I was taking photos #2 and #3 around midnight, and a gentleman on a slingshot bike blasting Al Green songs yelled: "Such an unusual tree, right?" And I yelled, "Right!" And then he howled a wolf's howl and road off down Edmonson Avenue.

Thank you, Wade. It really is a character! Someone commented once that it reminded them of War of the Worlds. It sure does.

What a story!! Thank you. Love the photographs.... I hope redevelopment in future works around the tree. It deserves to be saved for its entire natural life, it has worked so hard to get this far.

Yes, I really hope it remains in some form. Maybe as part of a park. It's a survivor.

Yes, definitely getting WoW vibes from that tree, kind of creepy but cool at the same time, must be a pretty unique specimen. Great photos & story, many thanks for sharing!

Love the tree story. However, the unicorn! Also someone must have a Lincoln fetish… or maybe his and hers?

That’s fantastic. I spend a lot of time in the woods down here in Anne Arundel County so I see plenty of gnarly trees with these roots, but this urban creature is exceptional, and I love how you’re documenting it. Someday it would be fun to accompany you guys on one of your photo explorations — I don’t do the urban ones by myself anymore. Great work as always!

Wow - that is a magnificent tree...an Ent from LOTR! And a great example of nature surviving, does it still come into full leaf each year?

That tree is wild, but hearing (and seeing) that you got the shot of the car, legit made my day.
