Thank you so much, Juliette! He helped me with the book, too. His fingerprints are literally and figuratively all over it.

Any opportunity to divest from Meta is one I'm willing to drive!

That's adorable! I can't think of a better project that you share with your kids... so any advice on how to's for those of us considering leaving Meta? I have a lot of contacts and was considering keeping the account open just to connect with some photo groups. I'm just starting to see it's likely a black and white situation but thought I'd ask.

Here’s what worked for me: I posted a quick grid post and shared it to my Story, letting everyone know when I’d be leaving and how they could stay in touch. For people I mainly interacted with through Meta, I sent personal messages to make sure we didn’t lose contact. Before signing off, I also explored other platforms for my photo interests—places like Flickr, Glass, Foto, and even Substack, which have some fantastic communities.

While it’s tempting to keep your account open for groups, I realized it felt like keeping one foot in and one foot out. Making a clean break gave me more mental clarity and helped me fully embrace those new spaces. Plus, even after I deleted my account, Meta kept sending emails trying to lure me back, which felt frustrating.

What I’ve discovered since leaving is that I’m having more meaningful, 1:1 conversations over text and email. The photo communities outside Meta are just as vibrant and often include familiar faces from before. Leaving wasn’t as black and white as I expected—it opened up new ways to connect and share.

Thank you Michael. After I sent you that note, I went over and completed step one of your outline before reading this. So, I guess I was on the right track! I will follow through with the rest of it. I agree that making a clean break is the way to go. I am encouraged by what you shared here. I loathe them...thank you again!

Thank you! I can't tell you how great it's been to see him defuse uncertainty by grounding through song—it's been just as impactful for me when dealing with the inevitably stressful drivers here in Baltimore :D

Lovin the ‘post ! (I know nothing regarding ‘meta btw..

Will have a deeper ‘looksee re your work & h/t Juliette as well

Special props re Tony & Seven ! Serendipity meets Happenstance as my Very First ‘living memory’ is a dray horse named Queenie snuffling tiny me as Joe the Fruit & Vegetable man held me up for inspection.. ! That velvety whiskering wuffle snuffle & huge calm eyes..

As life moved on.. the feral orphan & horses kept coming together .. again & again the horses came into my life .. or just for brief moments..

‘Seven is the name of a female character in a current ‘Creative Property underway here & visitors to my site will find evidence of ‘horses showing up here & there - consistently - photographs, fiction & via my ‘memoir stylings ! Yes, I ‘learned to drive’ behind teams of horses ! And have assisted a few colts during arrival & their first breath too

One might claim ‘my very first living - ‘street shooting was Queenie ! As she’s been ‘in my memory - clear as day for 71 years ! My experiences as a ‘shooter started in the 70’s though & was my sheer ‘curiosity - once coupled to a camera - that became a ‘passport to adventure & learning ! I’d have to say, my son grew up in a world of imagery & music & dammit but he startles me with his ‘eye !

Look forward to further perusals of your ‘stuff ! Any further details re Tony & Seven would be fantastic & fun ! My salamandery site is All Ages btw.. & no Politics or Religion either !

Lovin your ‘photo book too !
